The flight was with Air New Zealand, and takes about 11 hours or so to fly from London Heathrow to Los Angeles. A stop over at Long Beach in the West Coast Long Beach Hotel, very close
to the Queen Mary Hotel. Yellow cab fare about $50, shared mini-bus about $15 each from Los Angeles airport.

Here is the view across the river of Long Beach. This city has a lovely yacht basin
and nice compact centre. Well worth a visit.

A closer picture of the Queen Mary. The dome, which is a little way behind, was originally
used for housing Howard Hughes' Spruce Goose flying boat plane.
